Anari No. 1 is the story of two men, who by a strange quirk of fae, look identical to each other. One is a millionaire businessman called Rahul Saxena (Govinda) with a family consisting of loving parents (Satyen Kappu & Aroona Irani), as scheming uncle and aunt (Prem Chopra & Himani Shivpuri) - both of whom secretly keep plotting to gain control over the family fortune. Our second hero Raja (Govinda agin) is a waiter in a 5-star hotel. He is an orphan & dreams of becoming a rich man someday. Trying to help him, albeit unsuccessfully, is another millionaire businessman KK (Kader Khan). KK's daughter Sona (Simran) is in love with Rahul. Unfortunately KK keeps mistaking Rahul for Raja, thereby creating a comedy of errors. Sapna (Raveena Tandon) dreams of marrying a rich man. She meets Raja & mistaking him to be the millionaire. Rahul falls in love with him. Raja also reciprocates thinking her to be a millionaire's daughter.

The truth is revealed one day & they realise that Raja is a duplicate of Rahul Saxena. Raja's best friend Sattar (Satish Shah) concocts a plan to kidnap Rahul & plant Raja in his place so that they can obtain his fortune. As series of hilarious events later, they succeed in kidnapping Rahul & Raja goes to his house. There he meets Rahul's mother who loves her son very much. Raja who has always yearned for a mothers' love feels guilty about deceiving her. All this point enters our villain, Tiger (Shatru) - a ruthless killer kidnaps Rahul Saxena. Raja feels responsible & putting his own life at risk, decides to save Rahul.

Anari No. 1 is a film with Govinda at his comical best. It is a complete family entertainer with comedy, romance, drama all bound together by an emotional thread and is a must see for everybody.
